When I was thinking about what I was going to do for this challenge I imminently had something in mind. Every few years when I was young my family would go to Hawaii. Except for those trips to Hawaii, we never really traveled and I knew I wanted to depict that. As with many families who go to Hawaii, we would spend most of the time hopping between the pool and the beach so I knew I wanted the pool to be a prominent feature in the pattern.

Some things I remember most about Hawaii is going into shops filled with Ukeleles and little Volkswagen Woody’s with surfboards on it, laying on hammocks in between huge coconut filled palm trees, going to my first luau, and seeing the most amazing fish.

For those of you thinking about going to Hawaii, my two favorite hotels are the Hyatt in Kauai and the Hyatt in Maui. The Maui Hyatt even has PENGUINS, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the hotels in Hawaii.

This pattern depicts a few of my memories from being in Hawaii. I hope you like!

Have you been to Hawaii? What was your favorite island?
