In 2 weeks I will be on summer break and have all the time in the world to develop my blog and make it as big as possible for the next few months. If everything goes as planned and if I decide to be brave, I am hoping to work on opening an online shop this summer. In the meantime, I am going to be working hard to make this blog as good as possible so here are a few things you can expect on Kelcie Makes Patterns this summer.

1. A lot more Adobe Illustrator Tutorials

Illustrator tutorials are a lot more time-consuming to write because I have to make sure I have a picture that corresponds with each step of the tutorial. They also tend to be the posts that my readers like the most so now that I have more time I want to encourage the creativity inside of everyone with new Illustrator tutorials.

2. Lots and Lots of Patterns

I want to make more patterns for my shop so I will be working endlessly to create more detailed patterns. If you follow me on Instagram @kelciemakespatterns you will get a sneak peek of what my shop is going to look like because I post most of my patterns there. You can also request a pattern that you would like to see in my shop and I might even put it for sale.

3. Bonus Posts

This is something I might regret later, but for a few random weeks in the summer you might see two posts. I felt 2 posts a week would be too ambitious considering all of the other things I want to do this summer, but for a few weeks in the summer I want to post more because I know how busy I will be next year and I want to make up for the times I won’t be able to post.

4. A Resource List of all of my Favorite Adobe Illustrator Tutorials

I mentioned a while back that I was creating a list featuring all of my favorite Adobe Illustrator tutorials. School got in the way and I haven’t gotten around to finishing that list, but this will be one of my goals in the summer.

5. Work on my Shop

I have been wanting to open a shop for a while now but always back out because I worry that I am not doing what is legally required of me to open a shop. If I do go through with this, I want to take you guys behind the scenes of what it takes to open an online shop. One thing I am considering is changing my shop name to “Kelcie Makes.” The blog title will stay the same, but I don’t want to limit myself to just making patterns so by having “Kelcie Makes” as my shop name I can create graphics and design embellishments too. This isn’t definitive yet, but it is something I have been thinking about.

I think that is it for now, but for every blog post here on out, I am going to have a shop update at the bottom of the post where I tell you how far along I am in creating and opening my shop. What are your creative plans for this summer?
