I wrote a previous post about my favorite free mockups for surface pattern designers, but I realized quite recently that my list was not complete. You cannot have a good list of free mockups for pattern design without including wrapping paper mockups so this post is going to feature those types of mockups as well as some of my other favorite free mockups.

Let’s get started!

1. Wrapping Paper

Graphic Burger is one of my favorite websites for free mockups and design tools. This wrapping paper mockup allows you to add your design to the wrapping paper and edit the back color of the wrapping paper to match your pattern color. This pattern is a little more difficult to work with as there are multiple places where you need to add your pattern, but it is still beginner friendly.

2. Gift Bag Mockup

Some patterns lend themselves better to certain types of mockups. For example, you wouldn’t want to put a birthday pattern on a bed or as wallpaper because typically people don’t use birthday patterns for that purpose. It is always good to have a variety of wrapping paper/gift wrap mockups so when you make patterns that are limited in their use you can give your clients well-rounded examples of what a gift wrap collection might look like. I really like this mockup because it allows you to change the background and the sides of the gift bag. It’s easy to edit and works perfectly with the wrapping paper above.

3. Umbrella Mockup

With the last 3 mockups I am going to include in this list, it is important to look at the licensing agreement to see what you can use these free mockups for. All 3 of the final mockups would be perfect for a pattern design portfolio for anyone who wants to license their patterns to a company. This umbrella mockup is a great addition to any fall portfolio.

4. Shoe Mockup

This is probably my favorite mockup on the list. The shoe mockup has three sections where you can add your design to which makes it kind of hard to get your designs to be the same size in each section, however, you can also choose to put your design just on the toe of the shoe and add color to the rest of the shoe so this mockup is very customizable.

5. Mug Mockup

This last mockup is also one of my favorites as it allows you to change the color of the handle, the trim at the rim of the mug, the inside of the mug, and the section of the mug in between the handle and the pattern. All these patterns also have shadows and highlights that really bring the mockup to life.

So here are 5 more of my favorite free mockups. When you use these free mockups, make sure to check their licensing agreements first to see what you can use them for. The licensing agreements are usually found in the mockup file after you download the mockup.
