In my last post about my creative market shop earnings I half jokingly talked about how I made my first $15.40 on Creative Market. Although sadly it’s true that my shop didn’t pop off after that it is important to talk about the struggles of opening a shop because your shop is not always going to be successful right away. When I wrote that post, I documented my last sale on November 5th, 2018. At that time, there was a sale on my shop almost every month so I assumed that trajectory would continue, however, I had two sales in December, one in February, then I didn’t get my next sale until May. Since May, my shop has seen a decent increase in sales. You could even say that my shop has quintupled in sales. It wasn’t that hard to do because my sales were $15.40, but still it happened. So here is a list of all of the sales in my shop each month since my last post.

Since my last Creative Market sales post I have had 19 sales, 23 sales total. Those 23 sales have made me $149 in revenue. Of that $149 I made $93.20 dollars total in earnings and $77.80 of those dollars were made after my last post.

A few things I learned during this time:

  1. Make sure to check your pricing. Creative market has changed their licenses to personal, commercial, and extended commercial licenses. This update completely changed some of my prices so if you have a Creative Market Shop, go back and check your pricing to make sure that it’s at a price you want it to be at.
  2. Get your products certified. I am in the process of certifying all of my products and I have noticed since I have started certifying my products that my sales have gone up.
  3. Diversify. Don’t rely on Creative Market as your main sources of income. As my sales show, there can be months of instability so if you are looking to go into the creative field start your own shop, teach Skillshare classes, freelance, etc. I noticed while writing this post that from May to June my earnings on a $4 dollar personal pattern license went from $2.80 to $2.40. That doesn’t seem like a lot now, but if I sold thousands of products, that would add up. In the long run, it wouldn’t make sense for me to rely on a company that can change the money they take per sale at anytime.
